Hatırlarsanız geçtiğimiz sene Volkswagen, Polo modelinin ralli versiyonu olan R WRC’yi tanıtmıştı. Bu tanıtımın yayınladığımızda aklımıza gelen “Acaba bir Polo R olacak mı?” sorusunun cevabı Wörthersee 2012′de “Evet” şeklinde verildi.Sınırlı üretim bir otomobil olması beklenen Polo R WRC yol versiyonunda farklı bir ön tampon, R logolu ön panjur, splitter, 18 inç çaplı jantlar, mavi renkli fren kaliperleri, çift çıkışlı egzoz sistemi sportif görünümlü bir arka tampon ve bagaj kapağı üzerinde bir spoiler bulunurken splitter ile birlikte yan etekler, difüzör, spoiler, yan aynalar ve çamurluk çıtaları siyaha boyanmış.
Üzerinde bulunan grafikler sayesinde kolayca tanınabilecek olan aracın iç mekanında büyük bir değişiklik yapılmamış. Yüksek yan desteklere sahip sportif koltuklarında WRC logoları ve Alcantara döşeme dikkat çekerken aynı malzeme direksiyon simidinde de kullanılmış.
Kaputunun altında turbo beslemeye sahip 2 litre hacimli benzinli motor bulunan Polo R WRC 220 beygir güç üretebiliyor.
